Ernie Mills is a third-generation decoy carver. Made by traditional methods such as knives and hatchets, his decoys are used by hunters and wildlife photographers. Over the years he became recognized as an outstanding folk artist, and his award-winning decoys can be found in private collections and museums, including the Smithsonian Institution. Retired from carving and teaching at the age of 75, he has been nominated for a National Heritage Award. He is proudest of the fact that his working decoys are still in use.
