The Georgia Barbecue Classic is an annual contest sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Backyard barbecuers and professional teams compete in separate divisions. The pros fight for top honors cooking four categories of meat, with one taking home the Grand Championship.
The professionals come from all walks of life, including school teachers, and a retired plumber. The one thing they share is a passion for barbecue. They spend money, lose sleep and have fun competing for prize money, trophies, and points on the national circuit.
100% of the proceeds from the Georgia Barbecue Classic go to the Good Neighbor Shelter, to fund efforts to help the homeless in their community.
