Leaf Suncatcher

Preserving colorful and eye-catching leaves beyond their season is as easy as placing them in a frame. Using a double-glazed frame will allow them to glow in the sun for seasons to come.  Collect leaves and press in an old phone book or a flower press until thoroughly dry. A variety of frames that are perfect for this project are available at craft stores and online.

Materials:

Dried pressed leaves
Double-glazed picture frame
Cup hooks
Chain or wire, for hanging

Tools:

Drill with 1/8" drill bit
Glass cleaner and paper towels

Directions:

1. Choose leaves and place them in a press until dry.

2. Disassemble frame and clean glass thoroughly.

3. Arrange leaves on one of the glass panes.

4. Carefully place the second glass pane and frame over the leaves and secure the glass per frame maker's instructions.

5. Pre-drill two small holes for cup hooks, about an inch in from corners of frame on side which will be top of frame when hung. Screw in cup hooks.

6. Choose a simple chain or wire and attach to cup hooks.

7. Hang in the window of your choice.
